I adopted the idea for the Beebee Blanket from my aunt's homemade creation. For years, Vietnamese moms created these blankets for their newborn infants. I took this idea and restructured the blanket to today's standards. The term "weighted swaddling blanket" describes the blanket and its function. To swaddle is to wrap a baby tightly in a cloth or a blanket. The blanket contains soft weights to help secure the infant in place. The fabric and weights conform the blanket to the infant providing a similar sense of security and comfort as being swaddled in a mother's womb. The name "Beebee Blanket" is a play on words for baby and beebee-like pellets which filled the weights of the blanket.
